The exhibition Chiang Mai in the Past I has been created by the Chiang Mai House of Photography though cooperation between the Assoc. Prof. Kanta Poonpipat Foundation and Khun Naret Boontiang, a collector of historical photographs from San Pa Tong district, Chiang Mai. The collection documents Lanna ordination ceremonies, temples and funeral rites in Hang Dong, San Pa Tong and Chom Tong and includes more than 300 photographs of culture and travel along the Mae Ping River in the past.
The Chiang Mai House of Photography presents this exhibition to document and share our cultural history. It is our hope that it will deepen knowledge of our invaluable community heritage and inspire protection and unique cultural generation in the future.
